Juvenile Nasopharyngeal Angiofibroma: Radiologic Evaluation and Pre-operative Embolization

چکیده
Juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) constitutes less than 0.5% of all head and neck neoplasms. It is a histopathologically benign, yet locally agressive, vascular tumor that occurs most frequently in males from 5 to 25 years. Advances in imaging and treatment techniques are now facilitated more accurate staging of this disease. In this study, we present a case of JNA, to whom pre-operative embolization is administered.

Advanced juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) (i.e. disease with intracranial extension) is reportedly uncommon. The optimum management form of such a clinical situation currently remains controversial. This review, of the recent English published literature, discusses the common JNA classification systems advocated, shows the advantages and disadvantages of surgical approaches used (both...

This article reviews arterial embolization of epistaxis and juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibromas. A protocol for the complete and rapid exploration of epistaxis is suggested that is based upon which arteries providing blood to the nasal fossa may be responsible for the bleeding and the most optimal way for their demonstration and evaluation. The relevant anatomy of the major arteries, their br...
